Best Practices for Inventory Management
💡 Regular Physical Counts
Perform physical inventory counts weekly or monthly to ensure your system quantities match actual stock. This catches discrepancies early.
💡 Track Supplier Information
Store supplier names, contact info, and lead times. This makes reordering faster and helps you find alternative suppliers if needed.
💡 Monitor Costs
Track unit costs and monitor price changes. This helps you understand your material costs and identify savings opportunities.
💡 Set Appropriate Reorder Levels
Balance between avoiding stockouts and not carrying excess inventory. Consider your usage rates and supplier lead times.
💡 Update Records Immediately
Log inventory movements as they happen—receiving stock, using materials, or writing off items. This keeps your data accurate.
